Visiting Colleges - Calling for Action

Dave Obey even made the evening news saying Congress is making it harder for children of working families to get an education. Really Dave?

How about, instead of being so negative all the time, you give us a plan. Let's see your plan. Tell us how you would pay for it. Tell us why you don't support making colleges justify the amount of student aid they receive based on the number of qualifying students.

Here's an even better question, why don't you tell families that you voted against virtually all tax relief they've received since you've been in Congress and that you've voted for all their tax increases since you've been in Congress? Tell them that you don't want them to have extra income to save for college, that you'd rather take it from them and dole it out through federal bureaucracy, and only when they fill out a 13 page form to become eligible. Basically, tell them you're a big reason why trying to pay for college is such a problem for working families.

Obey has been doing this for as long as I can remember. The reason Obey won't retire is that he wouldn't know what to do with himself without power and the ability to pontificate and have people actually listen.

Obey is as liberal as they get, so I hope you can expose him.

If it wasn't for Dave Obey, northern Wisconsin would be even further behind than it is. By the way, you guys have been in charge for quite some time now. You control the executive branch, the legislative branch, & are attempting to destroy the judiciary. You've cut taxes on the rich so many times, I've lost count, what are you whining about? Y'all are doing a good job of destroying America.

Let's see, Dave Obey votes against the timber industry. He votes for higher taxes, against reducing regulations, and against health care solutions for small business owners. He voted against the marriage penalty tax relief and the child tax credit. He's voted to tax Social Security benefits. I could go on and on with the ways Dave Obey has tried or succeeded in screwing things up for us.

Coldwater -

There were 2 significant tax cuts; 2001 and 2003.

You've lost count on the way to two?

For the rich? Are you referring to the millions and millions of rich people in America or are you referring to the 80 percent of taxes paid in this country by the top 5 percent of wage earners? Should we have cut the taxes of the 40 percent of Americans that DON'T PAY INCOME TAXES???

For as long as Obey has been in Congress, he, too, spent more of his career in the majority than the minority. Remember, Obey has been in Congress for 52 years now, and only since 1994 has found himself in the minority. In all his years in Congress, nothing significant ever came except under Republican control of either Congress or the Presidency. The fact is, Dave Obey will be remembered for his decades of unremarkable service.

Let's all recall how our War on Poverty is over 40 years old. Why don't we cut and run from that already? It wasn't until 1996 with the passage of the Welfare Reform Act by a Republican Congress that welfare roles were actually reduced and people stopped buying "Welfare Cadillacs" and started to actually provide for their families by working.

Don't waste your fingertips on the dullards running this site: it's just Nick Reid and his extreme right wingnut friends with the Heritage Foundation trying to tell the people of the 7th district that Reagan's vision of returning to the 1950's is alive and well...

... and even when you corner them with the truth of corruption in the Republican party, they ignore it and attack the messenger: typical moronic attitude that has this country in the decline it's in.

It's ok though: as long as he is hiding in his closet and feeling that this stupid little joke of a crappy blog is having any impact, it's better than having this nut loose in society.

Oh, I forgot: he's running for the Republican nomination again in 2008.... I'm sure he'll be just as pasty white and scary then as he was this year...

Obey Out's type of 7th Distict Candidate: Michele Bachmann.

You remember her? She felt up W during the state of the union address, and has pushed the neo-con/christian/heritage foundation agenda in Minnesota, just like what Nicky Reid and the South Shore Six want to? Her latest crock of steaming feces were comments in which she said: "Iran is the troublemaker, trying to tip over apple carts all over Baghdad right now because they want America to pull out. And you know why? It's because they've already decided that they're going to partition Iraq."

She stated that half of Iraq -- the western, northern portion of the country -- will be called "the Iraq State of Islam, something like that. And I'm sorry, I don't have the official name, but it is meant to be the training ground for the terrorists. There's already an agreement made."

This from a congressman with less than monnth on the job and who sits on NO committees that they trust her with...

Fear mongering, hate, lies and lunacy: Perfect what this site is pushing. I suggest Obey Out draft her... she's right up their alley...
