If at first you forget to file

. . . forget to file again. Jeff Tyberg has once again been noticed with a failure to file his FEC report. The letter was sent September 1st. They gave him 4 days to file and it's now September 6th. We hate to kick a guy when he's down, but if he can't file his report on time, twice in a row, that does speak to how he might run his Congressional office.

Is anybody else worried that Tyberg is so hardcore that after he loses the primary he'll attempt a write-in campaign?

Well, First he agreed to an endorsement process and went back on his word.
Second he agreed to not attack his fellow Republicans and went back on his word again several times over by now.
So yeah, I'm worried.

I'm worried too. I've heard Reid say he'd endorse Tyberg, but haven't heard the same in return.

You Reidites are worried about a write-in campaign? Give it a rest. Why don't you just worry on getting votes for Nick. He's going to need them. That's your problem -your obsessed with Tyberg for no good reason. He's just a nuisance. Keep your eye on the prize.

First, I'm an anti-Obeyite, not a Reidite.

A nuisance, who even if he has just 5,000 loyal followers and he swings them to the constitution party on Election Day could swing an election. It's a valid concern.

A nuisance I might also add who isn't a person of his word at all, which is a shame for someone who makes such a big deal that God told him to run and he's a missionary and all.

I have very little doubt that the Time Marker will jump to the Constitution Party after he is soundly defeated in the primary.

You guys have taken a misconcption propogated by former candidate Robinson and turned it into an obsession bordering on lible. There was no "gentlemen's agreement", and no "endorsement process" was ever agreed to. Your facts are wrong and there are several county chairmen who will tell you so.
You also mis-quoted Tyberg and are now accusing him of attacking Reid.
You could at least check your facts before making baseless accusations.
Reid and Tyberg have had a couple of friendly debates, in which they have shown a lot more maturity and responsibility than you all. You should take a lesson from them.

There was in fact a gentleman's agreement made before the excec committe of the district party all the way back last fall, that one they wouldn't attack each other, and two they would sumbit to a endorsement process. Tyberg and his campaign have falsely accused Reid of being corrupt for raising money, hacking into his website, running blogs like this one, paying volunteers, refusing to debate him, and on, and on. In fact Tyberg had to send out a release apologizing for accusing Reid of refusing to debate him. So there, eat it!
Lastly why would Robinson, and Reid make up a story about the gentleman's agreement? They both will tell you it's true if you ask them, and Robinson has nothing to gain from making it up.

The bottom line here is that if you look at this campaign closely, Reid has focused on Obey, and Tyberg has focused on Reid.
We in the blog world have focused on the primary because getting the right candidate/campaign is crucial to defeating Obey. By staying in the race past the point where everyone rational could see Reid was going to win, Tyberg's campaign has aided Obey's re-election hopes.
And to the person who refuses to believe Jeff has attacked Nick, check out his press release from two weeks ago, and then check out his post on this site in July where he calls for no attacking between the campaigns and then decide if he broke his word.

Several county chairs weren't at the meeting where Robinson, Tyberg and Reid made an agreement - only 2 or 3 along with the 7th District Chair. Tyberg told those other county chairman it didn't happen, they weren't there. Robinson said it happened, Reid said it happened, what would their motivation be to lie about it?

I'm sure the exec. committee has minutes of that meeting that will show the endorsement was agreed to.

It was an informal meeting right after a regular 7th District Republican meeting. That's why it was called a gentelman's agreement between the candidates, not a directive by the executive committee. You Tyberg people can try to wiggle out of this, but no amount of saying it didn't happen changes the fact that it did.

THE DEBATE IS POINTLESS NOW, PEOPLE. THE PRIMARY IS TUESDAY. LETS TRY NOT TO UNECESSARILY CREATE CONDITIONS IN WHICH GRUDGES DEVELOP.

Unfortunately, grudges have already developped. Tyberg hasn't proven to be a person of is word, which is even more unfortunate. I'm glad he and Nick have been civil, but I'm not running so I don't have to be.

Grudges have already developed. This is why we needed to have a fair and open endorsement system so the stronger of the two candidates could move on to face Obey one on one instead of wasting valuable resources on a primary fight of any kind. The blame for this falls squarely on the shoulders of Jeff Tyberg and those who support him.
And then to top it off, he runs a campaign that routinely has put out false and/or misleading information about Nick Reid. And as a result people on the internet have responded and call him out for his conduct. All of these actions have lead to grudges, and this is why having a primary isn't a good thing when faceing a established incumbent.

It's important to keep this debate going. If you don't after a while people forget what really happened and start believing sad sack stories of the losing side. Look no farther than national politics where the democrats have managed to convince a lot of American's that it was Bush and GOP that stole votes in Florida 2000, and now Ohio. Those of us who keep on things know this is false, but because the dems have pounded it home there are a lot of people have bought into it.
We have to make sure that the next time around and/or other races we do things right to prevent this kind of thing from happening.
