Global Warming

Dave Obey's at it again. Here's what he said about Al (I discovered global warming) Gore's movie on global warming. "It is the most fundamental, and probably the most cataclysmic, problem we face . . ."

I guess Obey believes Prof Al Gore who just fired one scientist staffer who raised doubt to global warming (right now Dec 2007 we are experiencing record cold). First, this issue is consensus which is not science. Secondly, you want government money - beat the global warming drum.
One skeptical scientist, UW-Madison’s Professor emeritus Reid Bryson, is known as the father of scientific climatology. He calls global warming caused by humans “hooey” (see www.madison.com/tct/mad/topstories/197613). His comment about consensus: “Just because almost all of the scientific community believes in man-made global warming proves absolutely nothing … Consensus doesn't prove anything, in science or anywhere else, except in democracy, maybe." Additionally on funding: "There is a lot of money to be made in this … If you want to be an eminent scientist you have to have a lot of grad students and a lot of grants. You can't get grants unless you say, 'Oh global warming, yes, yes, carbon dioxide.'"
Prof Bryson believes the earth is warming but due to coming out of a Little Ice Age for the last 300 years caused by volcanic activity.”
Al Gore concluded his “Live Earth” concert series to raise awareness. However, he refuses to debate the issue with various challengers. Gore claims there is nothing to debate. Maybe “global warming” is not a science but rather a religion.
“Is Global Warming a Sin?” written by Alexander Cockburn (The Nation magazine May 14, 2007) addresses this question. Cockburn states that historians in the future will compare “the frenzies over our supposed human contribution to global warming to the tumults at the latter end of the tenth century as the Christian millennium approached“.
Cockburn asserts “The greenhouse fear mongers rely on unverified, crudely oversimplified models to finger mankind's sinful contribution--and carbon trafficking, just like the old indulgences, is powered by guilt, credulity, cynicism and greed.”
This describes Obey to a tee. It’s time for him to go.
