Mirror, mirror on the wall . . .

We had another post planned for this morning, but then we found this little post from Washington called "Honeymoon in Vegas."

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the luckiest congressional spouse of them all? It's a tie between Mrs. Rep. David Obey and Mrs. Rep. George Miller. Both couples took six privately funded trips to Paris, Italy or the Carribean during the time period.

You guessed it, for Mrs. Rep. David Obey to go on these trips, it means her husband Mr. Rep. David Obey was taking these all-expense paid vacations, the most recent a beautiful trip in February that cost almost $6,000 while we were all pretty cold here in Northwest Wisconsin.

Obey voted against our troops again! And this time I see the Reid campaign has nailed him on it. Good Job guys!

Yeah. Good for you, Nick.

But what does this have to do with the contents of the post? I thought this story was about exorbitant vacation spending by Obey and another Lib, not about Obey's voting record regarding our troops.

I believe Nick's blog is at GoNickGo.com. There, you can just blindly post pro-Nick stuff that has nothing to do with the actual story.

I'm really getting turned off by the Reid campaign because of this. At least try to stay on topic.

Hold on here everyone. Let's not start fighting amongst ourselves.

The way I see it, it's ok for a poster to comment on the latest thing that's happening, which was Obey's vote against our troops, which took place after this post was put up. If it's ok to blast Obey for his vote, then it's ok to point out that the Reid campaign was johnny on the spot to hit him for it.

No need for the sour grapes name calling on it though.

Of course it sounds like sour grapes to you. You probably support Reid. But it was not intended as such. It is a legitimate question. What did the above post have to do with the actual story?

Yes, it is a good story from the ObeyOut people. I am learning a lot more about Obey's practices since coming here to read. See, I have to do that as a newcomer to Wisconsin. I know nothing about my representative other than the fact he is a Democrat. I figure the comments would help to shed more light on the stories they are related to, but am finding that to be untrue, which really does not help me learn about Obey.

But I have seen that anyone who questions Reid supporters is just dismissed, so I should have anticipated your response. Too bad, really. In another post, I had mentioned my support of Tyberg and some people came up with some compelling arguments about what's right for the district, personal feelings for the candidate aside. I realized that I did need to think about that a bit more - and I have been giving it more thought. From what I have been reading about Obey, I definitely do not want him representing me, so I need to think about what I need to do to get him out. But your response tells me that unless I am a Reid supporter, my questions are nothing...which is a real turn-off and not a good way to win voters.

Mr. 1:08,

I see that our comments crossed.

I would think that if Obey's vote against the troops is the latest thing happening, then it deserves a new blogspot story, rather than a comment in an unrelated story. It sort of keeps things together.

Right about needing to be in new post, but there was no new post. Maybe the Obey Out folks got busy, etc.

Again, no name calling from me. I'm glad you're taking this race seriously. I actually do support Reid because I think he's a good candidate and because I think he by far has the best chance to win the race.

I've met Tyberg too. Seems like a nice guy, nothing bad to say about him. His campaign just isn't as strong, that's all.

Oh, and welcome to the 7th District. It's a great place. We've just been represented in Congress by a liberal democrat for far too long.

some of the frustration from those of us who support reid comes from the fact that he's the best chance we've had against obey since 1994 and tyberg's presence is making it harder for reid to raise more money and get the county republican organizations all working for him. with the primary so late, if tyberg stays in, he is simply making it easier for obey to win.
